Texada Aerospace Camp – 18 and 24 July 2026
Once again, this year, volunteer pilots from the Courtenay Airpark – and one from Pitt Meadows Airport - flew their aircraft to Gillies Bay Airport on Texada Island on 18 and 24 July to support the Texada Aerospace Camp with familiarization flights for their young participants aged 10 to 15 years old. This year marks the 7th Anniversary of the Airpark’s support to the Texada Aerospace Camp, which was unique in that it held two camps back-to-back over a two-week period. As a result, twenty-one youth were flown on July 18th, and an additional twenty-four went airborne on July 25th.
Seven of the young participants were flown under the banner of theExperimental Aircraft Association’s “Young Eagles” program, adding them to the more than 2.5 million young aviators across Canada and the USAwho are recognized as “Young Eagles”.
The Courtenay Airpark congratulates the Camp Director, Sheila McFarland and her team of volunteers, for their dedicated efforts and the development of today’s youth.
